In Hungary, research by NN Biztosító shows that approximately 46 percent of adult internet users have utilized AI for health queries. Similarly, in Italy, a study by Ipsos Doxa for Purina found that one in three pet owners uses artificial intelligence to manage the health of their dogs and cats. While these tools are used to explain veterinary terms or prepare questions for professionals, there is an increasing trend of owners seeking direct medical diagnoses from chatbots.

Expanding on these trends, a 2026 PwC ‘Voice of the Consumer’ survey indicates that nearly half of consumers in Central and Eastern Europe use AI when first encountering a health issue. In Romania, a recent online survey indicates that 70 percent of the population uses AI tools in daily routines, with adoption reaching 89 percent among Generation Z. Despite high usage, concerns regarding transparency persist; 32 percent of Romanian respondents stated they would feel “betrayed” if they discovered medical explanations from professionals were generated by AI without their knowledge.
