Czech Republic faces severe thunderstorms and heat warnings
The Czech Hydrometeorological Institute (ČHMÚ) has issued a series of alerts for the coming days. Strong thunderstorms are expected on Wednesday across southern Bohemia and the Plzeň region, with wind gusts up to 20 m/s, rainfall around 30 mm, hail and a remote chance of a supercell. A second wave of storms may arrive from Bavaria in the evening, affecting western and southwestern Czech lands.
Separate heat and fire warnings cover most of Moravia and parts of central Bohemia. Temperatures are projected to be very high, raising risks of overheating, dehydration, strain on medical services and potential wildfires, especially around Znojmo and Brno. Authorities advise staying in shade, maintaining fluid intake, limiting physical exertion during the hottest periods and setting air‑conditioners to avoid large temperature shocks.
