Czech Republic grain and rapeseed harvests report lower yields

The grain and rapeseed harvest in the Czech Republic has concluded, with the Ministry of Agriculture reporting lower yields compared to last year. Total grain production is estimated at nearly 6.316 million tons, while rapeseed production reached 772,000 tons. Despite the year-on-year decrease, officials state the harvest is sufficient to meet domestic consumption needs.

The decline in total volume is attributed to both lower yields per hectare and a reduction in the total area of land planted. Specifically, the area for cereals decreased by approximately 25,000 hectares, and rapeseed acreage fell by nearly 29,000 hectares compared to the previous year.

In the Hradec Králové Region, the harvest finished about a week earlier than last year due to prolonged sunny weather and high temperatures. While the region saw a 9% drop in total grain volume to 464,000 tons, it maintained one of the highest yields in the country at 6.21 tons per hectare. Winter wheat remains the most significant crop, accounting for roughly two-thirds of the region's cereal area.
