Czech Republic pension increase proposal for 2027
A proposal for Czech pension adjustments in 2027 suggests a potential monthly increase of approximately 300 CZK for most recipients. This increase would stem from a proposed rise in the basic pension component from 4,900 CZK to 5,200 CZK. Under this model, the amount added would be uniform regardless of the current pension level, meaning a recipient of 20,000 CZK would receive the same increase as one receiving 40,000 CZK.
Labor Minister Aleš Juchelka noted that with higher valorization options, the average pension could increase by up to approximately 590 CZK, though this is not a guaranteed figure. The government is expected to make a final decision on these increases by the end of September.
Regarding taxation, state pensions themselves are not subject to income tax or social and health insurance. Income tax only applies to annual pensions exceeding 36 times the minimum wage (projected to be 806,400 CZK in 2026 and 896,400 CZK in 2027). While the pension itself is not taxed, any additional income from employment, self-employment, or rental properties remains subject to standard taxation rules.
