Czech Republic proposes truck toll increases for 2027
The Czech Ministry of Transport has submitted a proposal to adjust toll rates for heavy goods vehicles weighing over 3.5 tonnes, effective July 2027. The measure aims to align Czech toll rates with neighboring countries to reduce excessive international transit traffic through the country.
For the most common category of heavy trucks (over 12 tonnes, five or more axles, Euro VI, CO2 class 1), highway rates are proposed to increase by 18.52 percent, while first-class road rates would rise by 26.6 percent. In absolute terms, this represents an increase of approximately 1.10 CZK per kilometer on highways and 0.97 CZK per kilometer on first-class roads.
Economists suggest that while transport companies may pass these costs to consumers, the impact on inflation and goods prices will be negligible compared to fuel costs. The Ministry noted that transit traffic on major highways like the D1, D5, and D8 has increased by more than 15 percent since the COVID-19 pandemic.
