Czech Republic records surge in golden eagle pairs and welcomes new bear cub at Dvůr Králové Zoo

Ornithologists in the Czech Republic reported a historic breeding season for the golden eagle, counting 34 territorial pairs across the country in 2025 – the highest number ever recorded since monitoring began. Thirty pairs built nests, and 20 successfully fledged a total of 38 eaglets, many in southern Moravia and newly in eastern Bohemia and central Moravia.

In a separate conservation milestone, Safari Park Dvůr Králové announced the birth of a rare bear cub, a species that seldom reproduces in captivity. The cub remains with its mother and will be shown to visitors in several months, highlighting the park’s role in protecting endangered wildlife.
