Czech Republic roadworks cause widespread traffic disruptions

Extensive roadwork and infrastructure maintenance projects are causing significant traffic disruptions across various regions in the Czech Republic.

In the Cheb region, numerous road closures and diversions are in effect due to surface repairs, sewage works, and bridge construction. Projects include repairs on road III/19823, modernizations between Zádub and Závišín, and works on the Hranice na Asku bypass. Ongoing construction in Cheb affects several streets, including Svobody, Evropská, and Tršnická, while reconstruction continues on road II/213 in Hazlov and road II/606 between Cheb and Pomezí nad Ohří.

In Ostrava, a large-scale reconstruction of the Rudná road is underway. A record deployment of up to 120 workers and 60 trucks is being used to complete the six-kilometer stretch through rapid milling and asphalt laying. To meet strict deadlines set by the Road and Motorway Directorate, work is being carried out in two to three shifts, even amidst high temperatures exceeding 35 degrees Celsius. The road is expected to be fully passable by the night of August 20 to 21.
