Czech Republic rolls out summer historic train routes and family attractions

A series of summer tourist trains has been launched across the Czech Republic, offering regular Saturday services from late June to late August. One line runs from Mnichovo Hradiště through Turnov and Libuň to Lomnice nad Popelkou, with most trips hauled by the motor locomotive Beruška and historic steam locomotive Hurvínek scheduled for 11 July and 22 August. The programme includes visits to the historic Mastná factory and a brewery tasting in Lomnice.

Additional historic‑train services operate on several other routes. Between Kroměříž, Kojetín, Tovačov and Chropyně, steam locomotives Hurvínek, Kredenc and Krokodýl run every other Saturday from 4 July to 29 August, while the Tábor‑Bechyně line features the restored electric locomotives Bobinka and Elinka. Weekend steam trips also run on the Kořenov‑Harrachov line and between Pardubice and Hořice. Tickets are sold through ČD counters and the ČD e‑shop.

The summer schedule is complemented by a wide range of kid‑focused activities, including creative workshops at Orlík nad Vltavou, marine‑science exhibitions at Liberec’s IQLandia, theatrical performances in Litomyšl and Vlašim, as well as guided castle tours and puppet shows at Mnichovo Hradiště.
