Czech road and rail repairs cause traffic delays near Boskovice and Žďár

Repairs on the main I/19 road near Boskovice have begun, restricting traffic with a temporary lane and detours for vehicles over 7.5 tons. The works, costing about 39 million Czech crowns, are part of a larger reconstruction that will see a full closure of the road in August and is scheduled to finish by mid‑November.

In nearby Žďár nad Sázavou, an old railway bridge is being demolished and a provisional road has been opened for drivers. Train services between Brod and Žďár are suspended until 21 July, with substitute bus routes provided for regional and long‑distance passengers. A new bridge is planned, with completion expected by winter 2026. Both projects are coordinated by the Czech road and railway administrations and aim to improve infrastructure durability and safety.
