Czech Road Authority Plans New I/73 Highway Section Linking D1 and D35
The Czech Republic’s Road and Motorway Directorate (ŘSD) announced that the D35 motorway is slated to open before Homolí in August, with a tunnel connector still awaiting final permission. In parallel, the first segment of the new I/73 highway, which will join the D1 near Brno to the D35, is set to begin construction next year. The 8.1‑kilometre Bořitov–Svitávka stretch, part of a 78‑kilometre four‑lane route, is already in the permitting phase and is expected to cost about CZK 4 billion. The planned maximum speed on the new road is 110 km/h. While construction of this initial section could start by the end of 2027, the remaining parts of the I/73 are targeted for a 2031 start, depending on further legal approvals.
