The first round of Czech secondary school admission exams was published on 15 May 2026. According to the state agency CERMAT, 93.3 % of ninth‑grade students passed, matching the previous year’s level. About 156 000 candidates applied, with roughly 130 000 targeting four‑year programmes. Regional differences were notable: success in Prague fell to about 84 % while the national average remained higher.

The electronic results system DiPSy experienced heavy traffic, with more than 150 000 users attempting to log in, leading to temporary outages. CERMAT spokesperson Kiril Christov said the system “has short‑term outages, you have to wait a moment.” Minister of Education Robert Plaga criticised the capital’s school capacity, noting the low success rate.

Applications for the second round open on 19 May, with the list of schools offering vacant places posted the same day and the deadline on 25 May. Candidates may submit up to three applications for non‑talent subjects and two for talent subjects; no retesting of the CERMAT exam is required, as schools will conduct their own assessments in June.
