Czech political shifts follow Senate elections and Prague coalition talks

Czech regional and Senate election outcomes are triggering various political responses. In Prague, the winning STAN party has begun coalition negotiations, presenting a proposal to the Piráti party. STAN leader Petr Hlaváček expressed a preference for a three-party coalition including Piráti and Praha sobě, while Piráti leader Tereza Nislerová noted programmatic alignment, particularly regarding housing.

In the Senate elections, Radek Černý (ODS) has announced plans to file a motion with the Supreme Administrative Court to challenge the validity of the voting in the Žďár district. Černý lost the second round by a single vote to Josef Klement (KDU-ČSL). Černý stated his goal is not to overturn the result but to eliminate doubts and strengthen trust in the electoral system.

Other regional results include Tomáš Třetina (TOP 09) securing a Senate seat in Znojmo, and Jakub Navařík (ODS/STAN/TOP 09/KDU-ČSL) winning in the Přerov region. In Karviná, Petr Kazík defeated ANO candidate Lenka Brzyszkowská in a close Senate race, marking a significant loss for the ANO movement in a traditionally strong area.
