Czech Senate returns EET proposal as Ukraine appoints new defense minister

In the Czech Republic, the Senate has returned a proposal to reintroduce the Electronic Sales Record (EET) system to the Chamber of Deputies with amendments. Additionally, senators approved enhanced consumer protection for online financial contracts but rejected a new law regarding state employees and a government proposal to limit the president's power to appoint heads of international missions.

On the economic front, Finance Minister Alena Schillerová is conducting budget negotiations with various ministries. Prime Minister Andrej Babiš indicated that next year's budget deficit should be significantly below 400 billion CZK.

In Ukraine, the parliament has approved President Volodymyr Zelenskyy's nomination of Yevhen Chmara as Defense Minister. The legislature also reappointed Andriy Sybiha as Foreign Minister. These appointments follow public protests regarding the end of the previous defense minister's term.
