Czech Television schedules classic comedy for seniors and launches new rural drama series

Czech Television (ČT) will broadcast a classic Czech comedy from the 1980s starring Miloš Kopecký and Vlastimil Brodský during the summer schedule, targeting senior viewers who make up a large part of daytime audiences. The film, written by Zdeněk Svěrák and directed by František Filip, is presented as a timeless comedy that appeals across generations.

In addition, ČT announced a new eight‑episode series called "Jobovka" by acclaimed director Jan Hřebejk, slated for 2027. The drama follows the Baránkov family as they leave Prague for the remote village of Pleština, confronting generational conflicts, old grudges and the challenges of rural life. Hřebejk emphasizes a realistic, non‑nostalgic portrayal of the Czech countryside, mixing humor with strong emotional tension.
