Czech Television rural drama rollout
Overview
In early July 2026 Czech Television announced the six‑episode detective miniseries Hec, set in the fictional village of Kouty and slated for an autumn broadcast. Written and directed by Michal Samir and produced by Up&Up Production, the series blends a criminal investigation with family drama, emphasizing psychological depth and generational conflict. Creative producer Alena Müllerová highlighted the story’s focus on a body discovered in a ruined wooden church, and filming took place in the Chomutov district locales of Louchov and Domašín. The cast includes Petra Hřebíčková, Juraj Loj, Stanislav Majer, Milena Steinmasslová, Jan Hájek, Jana Plodková, Jaromír Dulava and Tomáš Jeřábek.
A few weeks later the broadcaster added a classic 1980s comedy starring Miloš Kopecký and Vlastimil Brodský, written by Zdeněk Svěrák and directed by František Filip, to its summer schedule for senior viewers. At the same time it unveiled the eight‑part family drama Jobovka, directed by Jan Hřebejk and written by Matěj Dadák, to debut in 2027. The series follows the Baránek family as they move from Prague to the remote village of Pleština, confronting local traditions, old grudges and the challenges of countryside life. Filming in July took place at the historic Točník Castle, with a cast that includes Jiří Havelka, Antonie Martinec Formanová, Jiří Schmitzer and Petra Hřebíčková.
Both programmes underline Czech Television’s strategy of expanding rural‑focused storytelling and showcasing contemporary Czech talent across genres.
