Czech tourist dies in fall on Mount Pilatus, Switzerland
An 18-year-old tourist from the Czech Republic has died following a fall on Mount Pilatus in Switzerland. The incident occurred in the Klimsenhorn area during a period of free time for a youth travel group.
The victim failed to appear at a scheduled meeting point for a descent to Alpnach at 13:30. After the individual could not be reached by phone, the group alerted the police. A search operation was launched by the Swiss rescue organization Rega, which located the young man in steep terrain.
Authorities from the Nidwalden Cantonal Police Alpine Intervention Group and the Nidwalden Public Prosecutor's Office are investigating the exact circumstances of the accident. The Czech Ministry of Foreign Affairs has confirmed the death and stated they are in contact with the family to offer condolences.
