Czech tourists report severe illnesses during Turkey vacation

Multiple Czech families have reported severe health issues following vacations in Alanya, Turkey. One group of fourteen tourists, including six children, experienced sudden abdominal cramps and high fevers while staying at the Taç Premiér hotel. Two children required hospitalization in Turkey before the group could fly home.

Upon returning to the Czech Republic, the medical issues persisted. A five-year-old girl was admitted to the infectious disease ward at Bulovka University Hospital, and an adult required hospitalization as well. While Turkish doctors suggested a rotavirus infection, Czech medical professionals have raised suspicions of salmonellosis, though definitive test results are pending. The families suspect the illness may have originated from hotel food, a claim the hotel has denied.

In a separate but similar account, another Czech family reported that a man required intravenous fluids in a Turkish hospital, followed by a 15-month-old girl suffering from high fevers and vomiting. The parents expressed dissatisfaction with the local medical care, noting a four-hour wait in the emergency room and an adverse reaction to prescribed antibiotics.
