Czech tourists warned to avoid wildfire zones in Southern Europe

The Czech Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a warning urging Czech citizens travelling in Spain to stay away from areas affected by ongoing wildfires. The fires are also affecting regions of France, Greece and other parts of southern Europe, prompting heightened concern among travelers.

Travel industry experts, including Jan Papež, deputy chairman of the Association of Travel Agencies, advised tourists that cancellations without penalties depend on assessments by the foreign ministry. He recommended that travelers either shift their destination or postpone their trip, and stressed the simple safety rule: “Do not linger in the area; just turn around and leave.” Tourists are urged to stay in contact with their travel agencies, the foreign ministry’s crisis line, and their insurance assistance services.

The guidance applies particularly to Czech tourists booked through travel agencies, who receive continuous updates and support, while independent travelers should monitor official communications and consider alternative arrangements if the fire threat approaches.
