Major road closures in Prague and Czech cities for Kbelská street reconstruction and other infrastructure projects

From June 22, 2026, Prague 8 will close a section of Šaldova street while a sewer rebuild runs until January 31, 2027, diverting traffic to marked detours. Meanwhile, extensive works on Kbelská street, a key link in the city’s outer ring, begin with signage installation on June 22 and full reconstruction on July 2. The 24‑hour, seven‑day schedule aims to finish by mid‑August, narrowing the road from two lanes to one in each direction and using a “virtual tunnel” traffic scheme to keep bus service flowing. Approximately 250 workers and a budget of about 580 million CZK are allocated.

In the north, Všeň‑Ploukonice sees road and water‑line closures from July 1 to August 31, altering bus routes on lines 301, 355 and 364. Brno’s D1/D2 interchange is being rebuilt with new bridge girders, reducing the motorway to a single lane each way and temporarily closing Kaštanová street; the project, costing 3.2 billion CZK, is slated for completion in November 2027. Liberec’s Sněhulák junction begins bridge repairs in June, with night closures through October, affecting the I/35 corridor. Náchod’s border roundabout opened in June, ending temporary shuttle traffic at the I/33 crossing. All projects are coordinated by the Czech Road and Motorway Directorate (ŘSD) and local authorities to minimise disruption for commuters and freight traffic.
