Czech Transport Ministry Receives Final PPP Bids for D35 Highway Extension

The Czech Ministry of Transport has received final offers from three international consortia to build the missing sections of the D35 motorway between Opatovice and Mohelnice under a public‑private partnership (PPP). The project, described as the historically largest PPP for transport infrastructure in the Czech Republic, includes construction, financing, operation and maintenance of 35.4 km of new road, two tunnels (a 3.9 km Dětřichov tunnel and a 1.3 km Maletín tunnel), and subsequent operation of a 17 km stretch between Litomyšl and Opatovice.

The ministry will now evaluate the submissions, which were submitted by 10 July, before selecting the most suitable bid for approval by the government and the Chamber of Deputies. If the process proceeds as planned, construction could start later this year. Minister of Transport Ivan Bednárik said, “We are approaching the final phase of the historically biggest PPP project in the Czech Republic,” and consortium representatives expressed optimism about reaching this milestone.
