Czech wine industry sees expert visits and early harvest

The Czech wine industry is experiencing a significant period of professional recognition and seasonal transition. The Institute of Masters of Wine is conducting its first official study visit to the Czech Republic, bringing 20 experts from nine countries to evaluate the potential of wine regions in Bohemia and Moravia. This visit aims to enhance the international perception of Czech wines through professional assessment and masterclasses.

Simultaneously, the grape harvest is beginning in South Moravia. Due to high temperatures and a lack of rainfall, winemakers expect a hectic harvest as various grape varieties are ripening simultaneously rather than in stages. While the lack of moisture is expected to result in lower yields and reduced juice extraction, experts suggest the conditions may produce more aromatic and concentrated high-quality wines.
