Czech wine industry development and recognition

The Czech wine industry has recently focused on international professional assessment and regional competition success.

In August, the Institute of Masters of Wine conducted its first official study visit to the Czech Republic, sending 20 experts from nine countries to evaluate wine regions in Bohemia and Moravia. This period also marked the beginning of the grape harvest in South Moravia. Due to high temperatures and low rainfall, winemakers anticipated a hectic harvest with simultaneous ripening across varieties, which experts suggested might lead to lower yields but more aromatic, concentrated wines.

By early September, several Czech wineries received top honors in regional competitions. Notable achievements included Rodinné vinařství Skoupil being named champion of the Velkopavlovice wine region, and Moravčíkova vína receiving the Eduard Postbiegl award for best wine collection in Brno. Other winners included Salay Winery, Zámecké vinařství Bzenec, and Sedlecká vína, representing various sub-regions such as Velkopavlovice, Slovácko, and Mikulov.
