Czechia expands tolling network and opens new D7 motorway sections

Czech infrastructure is undergoing significant updates with the expansion of the electronic tolling network and the opening of new motorway sections. As of September 1, the electronic tolling system has been extended to approximately 17.2 kilometers of newly constructed sections on the D3, D35, and D49 motorways.

Simultaneously, the Road and Motorway Directorate (ŘSD) has opened a new portion of the D7 motorway near Knovíz. Drivers can now use a roughly three-kilometer section of the 6.5-kilometer stretch between Knovíz and Slaný-západ. Currently, traffic is operating in a 1+1 configuration, with one lane in each direction. The remaining half of this section is expected to be completed by the end of the year, with the full section opening to traffic next year.

Work continues on other segments of the D7, including sections between Slaný and Kutrovice, and Kutrovice and Panenský Týnec. The overall 17-kilometer modernization project aims to alleviate congestion on a route that currently handles up to 16,000 vehicles daily.
