Czechia hosts major classical music festivals and competitions

The Czech Republic is hosting two significant classical music events this autumn. The sixth edition of the Varhanní Vysočina festival will take place from September 13 to November 8 across various towns in the Vysočina Region. Under the motto “Music that connects generations,” the festival features nine concerts celebrating the anniversaries of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Antonín Dvořák, and Josef Bohuslav Foerster. The program includes collaborations with international singing and organ competitions.

In Brno, the 32nd Leoš Janáček International Music Competition will be held from September 14 to 20. This year’s edition focuses on the French horn and tuba, disciplines that are featured in the competition cycle only once every five years. Approximately 150 musicians from 35 countries are expected to participate. The event, organized by the Janáček Academy of Music and Performing Arts, will conclude with a grand finale on September 20 featuring the Bohuslav Martinů Philharmonic Orchestra.
