Czechia upgrades road infrastructure and monitoring technology
Czech Republic is implementing new technologies to improve road safety and infrastructure maintenance. In Přerov, a modernization project for the Kojetínská and Husova street intersection is planned for the first half of 2027. The project, estimated to cost nearly 9.7 million CZK, will include new LED signaling, video detectors, and acoustic signals for the visually impaired. The system will operate 24/7, utilizing an all-red mode during nighttime hours to manage traffic flow.
Additionally, the Road and Motorway Directorate (ŘSD) and the company VARS have introduced the CleverRA Car EVO, a high-tech diagnostic vehicle valued at over 20 million CZK. Starting this autumn, the vehicle will monitor Czech highways and first-class roads. Equipped with advanced sensors and spherical cameras, it can detect cracks and ruts at speeds up to 100 km/h. This data will assist in more precise planning for road repairs and long-term maintenance investments.
