Czechoslovak Group Starts $632 Million Future Artillery Complex in Iowa

Czechoslovak Group’s U.S. subsidiary, MSM North America, broke ground on July 15 for the Future Artillery Complex at the Iowa Army Ammunition Plant. The $632 million contract calls for design, construction, commissioning and initial qualification of a new large‑caliber ammunition line that will replace a 50‑year‑old production facility. The government‑owned, contractor‑operated complex is scheduled to enter service in 2029 and will be capable of producing up to 36,000 loaded 155 mm artillery projectiles each month.

The additional capacity supports the U.S. Army’s target of 100,000 155 mm rounds per month across the national ammunition industrial base. The project includes extensive automation to improve safety and product consistency and is expected to create about 70 high‑skill jobs in Iowa. It forms part of a broader effort to rebuild U.S. ammunition production capacity for current and allied forces.
