After the Pentagon inspector‑general report in mid‑July 2026 highlighted the failure of the General Dynamics plant in Texas to deliver any 155 mm metal parts, the Army’s effort to reach 100,000 rounds per month turned to new capacity. Czechoslovak Group’s U.S. subsidiary broke ground on a Future Artillery Complex at the Iowa Army Ammunition Plant on 15 July 2026, promising up to 36,000 loaded 155 mm projectiles monthly by 2029. On 29 July 2026 the complex was officially launched. Built under a government‑owned, contractor‑operated (GOCO) model at a cost of about $635 million, the facility features a data‑driven, automated production line and is described as the most advanced of its kind. In addition to artillery shells, the project adds capacity for serial production of drone propulsion units in Wisconsin and expands CSG’s U.S. footprint with new subsidiaries such as CSG Land Systems North America. The Iowa line is intended to help close the shortfall exposed by the Texas plant and contribute toward the Army’s 100,000‑round monthly target across the national ammunition industrial base.
