Łódź Airport faces scrutiny over audit findings and financial losses

PiS councilors in Łódź and the Łódź Voivodeship Sejmik have requested urgent debates regarding the financial and organizational future of Łódź Airport. The request follows concerns over significant losses and insufficient oversight of public spending by the City of Łódź, which holds approximately 95.6% of the airport company's shares.

A recent audit of the airport revealed several financial irregularities. Findings include over 17,000 PLN spent on consumption during contractor meetings and board member travel expenses exceeding 200,000 PLN in 2024. While the airport has seen a rise in revenue and currently handles a record nearly 500,000 passengers annually, it continues to face long-term deficits and a lack of funds for infrastructure investment.
