Łódź Airport CEO dismissed following audit

Overview

An audit commissioned by the Łódź City Hall, which holds approximately 95.6% of the airport’s shares, has identified management and expense irregularities at the Łódź Airport. The investigation raised concerns regarding the frequency of business trips taken by CEO Anna Midera, who reportedly spent approximately 110 days on delegation in 2024, with total delegation expenditures exceeding 200,000 PLN. The report also questioned expenditures for meetings held at certain establishments, including over 17,000 PLN spent on consumption during contractor meetings, some occurring after midnight.

While airport management previously defended its operations, stating that duties performed away from headquarters accounted for less than 25% of working time, the scrutiny intensified following reports of the airport’s long-term financial struggles. Despite reaching a record of nearly 500,000 annual passengers, the airport has faced net losses totaling over 300 million PLN over the last nine years.

In response to the audit findings, the Supervisory Board dismissed Anna Midera from her position as president. Robert Makowski, a former vice president, has been appointed to serve as temporary president until a permanent successor is chosen through a formal competition. Following her dismissal, Midera intended to resign from her role as president of the Association of Regional Airports (ZRPL). However, the presidents of the other twelve regional airports requested that she withhold her resignation to ensure the continued stability and efficiency of the association. Discussions regarding the professionalization of the ZRPL are currently underway.
