Łódź Region Water Rescue Gets 1.3 million zł for New Gear
Residents of the Łódź voivodeship voted to allocate 1.3 million zł from the citizen’s budget to the regional Water Volunteer Rescue Service (WOPR). The funds will equip units operating on the Sulejów Reservoir, Jeziorsko Reservoir and landscape park waters with new operational cars, a 4×4 off‑road vehicle, quads, a motor‑powered rescue boat with trailer, a remote‑controlled rescue robot and other specialised rescue tools.
The financing agreement was signed on 31 July by representatives of WOPR branches in Piotrków Trybunalski, Tomaszów Mazowiecki, Zduńska Wola, Skierniewice and Radomsko, together with Marshal Joanna Skrzydlewska and Vice‑Marshal Piotr Wojtysiak. Damian Błaszczyk, president of the Tomaszów Mazowiecki WOPR, highlighted that the robot allows rescuers to reach victims without entering the water, improving safety and response speed.
