D1 motorway bridge repairs to cause traffic restrictions in Slovakia
The National Highway Company (NDS) is beginning bridge joint replacement works on the D1 motorway starting Monday, September 21. The maintenance will take place at two primary locations: near Bitarová and on the bridge over the Demänovka stream near Liptovský Mikuláš.
At the Bitarová section, work will be conducted on two consecutive bridges over approximately six weeks. The project will be executed in two stages, involving temporary lane closures, though traffic will remain open in both directions. At the Liptovský Mikuláš site, the replacement of four bridge joints is expected to last about seven weeks, also utilizing a two-stage process.
These technical improvements aim to enhance the condition of the bridges, improve driving comfort, and reduce noise levels. Motorists are advised to exercise caution and respect temporary traffic signage and speed limits during the construction periods.
