D35 motorway expansion: New section opens near Vysoké Mýto
A new 6.2-kilometer section of the D35 motorway, connecting Ostrov and Vysoké Mýto, is set to open this Friday. Due to construction delays at the Homole tunnel, drivers will bypass the half-kilometer tunnel via the parallel I/17 road until its expected completion in June next year.
Work is also progressing rapidly on the 7.6-kilometer stretch between Džbánov and Litomyšl. While the official contractual completion date is January 2027, the contractor, Budimex, is attempting to open this section before the end of this year. Approximately 350 workers are currently on-site focusing on bridge structures, road surfaces, and noise barriers.
Long-term plans for the D35 include the completion of the Litomyšl bypass in the summer of 2027, which would eventually allow for uninterrupted travel between Prague and Svitavy.
