D35 motorway opens new section near Vysoké Mýto
A new 6.2-kilometer section of the D35 motorway between Ostrov and Vysoké Mýto, including the Vysoké Mýto bypass, has opened to traffic in the Pardubice Region. Currently, this section is being operated without highway tolls.
While the road surface is accessible, the Homole tunnel remains closed due to complications during the construction of the tunnel tubes. The tunnel, which consists of a 569-meter right tube and a 525-meter left tube passing under the I/17 road, is now expected to open in the summer of next year rather than the originally planned December.
The D35 serves as a northern alternative to the heavily congested D1 motorway, intended to connect Liberec, Hradec Králové, and Olomouc. The construction of this specific section was carried out by Eurovia and M-Silnice at a cost of 1.4 billion CZK (excluding VAT), while the tunnel project involves Eurovia CZ, TuCon, and Eurovia SK with a budget of 1.8 billion CZK (excluding VAT).
