Da Nang approves 6.2 trillion VND investment for Liên Chiểu port and dedicated railway
The Da Nang City Council voted unanimously to allocate more than 6,209 billion VND for the remaining common‑infrastructure phase of the Liên Chiểu port. The plan includes constructing a dedicated railway linking Kim Lien station to the port, building additional wave‑breakers, two new bulk‑cargo berths, three port bridges, and about 5.73 km of shared road network. Phase 1 of the project, worth over 3,426 billion VND, was completed in March 2026; Phase 2 will run from 2026 to 2030, covering land‑acquisition, compensation, and relocation of existing piers and oil terminals. Approximately 5,000 billion VND of the funding is expected from the central government budget. Deputy Chairman Trần Phước Sơn said the project is “not only a transport infrastructure but a strategic logistics hub that will boost the competitiveness of Da Nang and the Central‑Midland region.” The development aims to transform Liên Chiểu into an international gateway for Central Vietnam and strengthen the city’s role as a logistics and maritime hub.
