Da Nang holds ceremony to inter 14 recovered martyr remains

Authorities in Da Nang held a solemn ceremony on October 13 to honor and inter 14 sets of martyr remains at the Hoi An Martyrs Cemetery. The remains were recovered between October 2 and October 5 following information provided by local residents regarding burial sites in the Thanh Tay and Vong Nhi residential areas.

Among the recovered remains, nine sets included personal artifacts such as blankets, hammocks, bone fragments, and teeth. The ceremony was attended by Le Ngoc Quang, Secretary of the Da Nang City Party Committee, along with representatives from Military Region 5 and the Da Nang Military Command.

In a separate development, officials in Hiep Duc commune are preparing a workshop for October 19 to verify reports of a mass grave located at the courtyard of the local Party Committee office. Initial reports suggest the site may contain the remains of 30 to 40 martyrs who died during the resistance war against the United States. Local authorities are calling on veterans and historical witnesses to provide information to assist in identifying the individuals and matching them with historical records.
