Da Nang advances AI partnership, startup financing and semiconductor hub to boost tech economy
Da Nang hosted the Frontier AI & Local Zones Innovation 2026 conference on 17 July, co‑organised by Renova Cloud and Amazon Web Services. Over 100 officials and tech leaders attended to discuss AI infrastructure, cloud computing and a digital‑economy roadmap that aims to raise the sector’s share of the city’s GRDP to 27%.
The city is positioned as a key destination for foreign investment under Vietnam’s national goal to become the ASEAN leader in attracting high‑quality capital by 2030, with a target of $300 billion in inflows and a 30% contribution of foreign‑investment‑driven activity to GDP by 2045.
In May the Da Nang City Council approved a resolution granting non‑refundable state funding for innovative startup projects. Early‑stage ventures can receive 10‑30 million VND for labor and 20‑50 million VND for operating costs, while later‑stage projects may obtain up to 2 billion VND per project to accelerate product commercialization.
Da Nang is also pursuing a semiconductor centre, seeking to become one of three national micro‑chip hubs with around 5,000 skilled workers. The city offers substantial incentives, infrastructure investment and direct financial support—potentially hundreds of billions of dong—for chip design, packaging, testing and production projects.
