Thai Nguyen police detain man for land title fraud

The Thai Nguyen Provincial Police have initiated criminal proceedings and detained Lu Van Ngo for the crime of “fraudulent appropriation of property.”

According to investigation documents, in late 2021, two individuals purchased a plot of land in Thanh Cong commune for 220 million VND. Lu Van Ngo, who was acquainted with the buyers and understood the land's origin, was hired to handle the land use certificate (red book) procedures for a fee of 60 million VND. However, Ngo fraudulently registered the land under his own name without notifying the original owners.

In May 2026, Ngo sold the land to a third party for 630 million VND, claiming it was his own property, and used the proceeds for personal expenses. The fraud was discovered after the original owners reported the matter to the police.
