Da Nang police record high drug enforcement numbers in 45-day crackdown
Da Nang police have concluded a 45-day intensive crackdown on drug crimes, resulting in record-breaking enforcement numbers. During the campaign, which ran from August 5 to September 20, authorities conducted drug tests on more than 56,000 suspected individuals.
Of those tested, 1,867 people tested positive for narcotics. The operation led to the investigation of 326 cases involving 600 criminal subjects, and 475 individuals were sent for centralized drug rehabilitation. The crackdown targeted residential areas, boarding houses, karaoke bars, and apartment complexes to clean up key locations.
Colonel Nguyen Ha Lai, Deputy Director of the Da Nang Police, noted that these figures represent the highest number of positive cases and drug-related incidents recorded to date. Moving forward, police intend to intensify efforts against drug supply chains, particularly focusing on border routes and maritime smuggling to prevent narcotics from entering the city from other provinces and regions.
