Vietnam's economy demonstrated strong performance in the first nine months of 2026, with GDP growing by 9.01%. The third quarter saw an accelerated growth rate of 9.95%, marking the fastest expansion since the pandemic. This growth was primarily driven by the industrial and construction sectors, which expanded by 11.21%, and the services sector, which grew by 8.69%.

Industrial production showed significant momentum, with the Industrial Production Index (IIP) rising 12.3% over the nine-month period. Manufacturing and processing led this trend with a 12.9% increase. Additionally, foreign direct investment (FDI) registered capital reached 50.36 billion USD, representing a 76.4% year-on-year increase, while realized FDI stood at 21.07 billion USD.

The banking sector reported total credit outstanding of approximately 20.75 trillion VND as of September 30, a 16.69% increase compared to the same period last year. While the economic outlook remains positive, officials noted challenges including global geopolitical conflicts, market volatility, and the need to maintain momentum to reach the annual growth target of over 10%.
