Da Nang reprimands local units over low public investment disbursement

Da Nang authorities have issued formal reprimands to the leaders of nine communes and wards after public investment disbursement rates fell below 20%. While the city has disbursed over 8,200 billion VND—reaching more than 50% of its total plan—nearly 7,900 billion VND remains unspent.

Da Nang Chairman Nguyen Manh Hung has ordered the 10 units with the largest capital allocations to resolve bottlenecks related to land compensation, site clearance, construction materials, and contractor capacity. A significant concern noted is that over 5,600 billion VND in advanced capital has yet to be recovered, representing more than 68% of the total disbursed amount.

Priority focus has been placed on 10 major projects with high unspent balances, including the emergency repair of the Thu Bon River embankment in the An Luong area, digital government platform development, and climate change adaptation infrastructure for ethnic minorities (CRIEM). The city leadership emphasized that disbursement results will now serve as a key criterion for evaluating official performance.
