Da Nang's Trà Đốc and Hue's Thuận An drive new tourism growth in central Vietnam

Trà Đốc, a newly created commune in Da Nang's western highlands, combines terraced rice fields, rich forest ecosystems and several ethnic communities. Local officials highlight cultural assets such as Ca Dong gong music, historic waterfalls and a 2‑3‑decade‑old cinnamon plantation, and plan to develop community‑based and experiential tourism, including fish‑cage farms and potential on‑site cinnamon‑oil distillation.

In Hue, the historic sea gate of Thuận An, once a strategic port since the 15th century, is being promoted as a coastal tourism destination with white‑sand beaches, the Tam Giang lagoon and fishing‑village culture. Recent infrastructure upgrades include a 2.36 km coastal bridge—the longest in Central Vietnam—opened on 30 April 2026, improving access between Thuận An and Hải Dương and supporting new resorts, boat tours and cultural festivals.
