Daayra box office collections show slow trend after five days

The Hindi investigative thriller ‘Daayra’, directed by Meghna Gulzar and starring Kareena Kapoor Khan and Prithviraj Sukumaran, is experiencing a slow box office performance five days after its release.

As of its fifth day, the film earned approximately ₹0.5 crore, bringing its total India gross collection to ₹6.6 crore and its net collection to roughly ₹5.5 crore. Worldwide gross earnings have reached ₹8.55 crore, bolstered by a slight increase in overseas collections to ₹1.95 crore.

After a peak of ₹1.6 crore on its third day, daily collections dropped significantly to ₹0.5 crore or less on days four and five. Analysts suggest the film’s serious subject matter—an ethical clash within the police system—may be drawing a niche audience more suited to streaming platforms than theatrical releases. Occupancy rates were reported as low as 15% on Tuesday.
