Daayra thriller receives ‘A’ rating ahead of September release

The investigative thriller ‘Daayra’, directed by Meghna Gulzar and starring Kareena Kapoor Khan and Prithviraj Sukumaran, has received an ‘A’ rating from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). The certification, issued on September 11, required only one minor dialogue modification involving the character Ajooni, while leaving all violent scenes intact. The film has a runtime of approximately 143 minutes.

Despite the positive response to its trailer, trade experts have expressed concerns regarding the film’s box office potential due to a perceived lack of marketing buzz ahead of its September 18 release. Some analysts predict a modest opening, with estimates ranging between Rs. 2 crores and Rs. 5 crores. While the film targets a metro-centric audience, critics note that it faces stiff competition from other upcoming releases.
