Daayra trailer released starring Kareena Kapoor Khan and Prithviraj Sukumaran

The trailer for Daayra, a new crime thriller directed by Meghna Gulzar, has been released. The film stars Kareena Kapoor Khan and Prithviraj Sukumaran as two senior police officers, DCP Ajooni Kohli and DCP Raman Kumar, who navigate the same investigation using opposing ideologies regarding duty and justice.

Inspired by true events, the narrative explores the aftermath of a crime that sparks national outrage. While some speculation linked the film to the 2019 Hyderabad rape-murder case, the filmmakers clarified that the story is a synthesis of various real-world incidents across India intended to examine the complexities of the justice system.

At the trailer launch in Mumbai, Kareena Kapoor Khan discussed the emotional weight of the film, noting that certain scenes were disturbing but impactful. She also shared her personal reflections on raising her sons with empathy and emotional honesty in light of the film's themes. The production features an ensemble cast including Jitendra Joshi and Kshitee Jog, and is scheduled for theatrical release on September 18, 2026.
