Automotive industry sees shifts in propulsion, battery tech, and market expansion

Automotive manufacturers and technology sectors are introducing several key developments. Dacia has launched a marketing campaign for its ‘Tribrid’ technology, which combines gasoline, LPG, and electric propulsion in its Duster and Bigster models. This system offers up to 1,500 km of range and can operate in 4x4 mode.

In the electric vehicle sector, Xiaomi has confirmed its intention to enter the European market by 2027, starting with Germany. The company plans to leverage its ‘Human × Car × Home’ ecosystem and has already established partnerships with several German dealer groups.

Technological shifts are also occurring in battery production and standardization. Sodium-ion batteries, which utilize abundant salt, are nearing mass production and could offer Europe greater independence from lithium. Meanwhile, the International Electrotechnical Commission has approved a Chinese proposal for a new international standard regarding solid-state batteries, aiming to establish technical criteria to distinguish true solid-state cells from hybrid versions.

Additionally, discussions continue regarding the necessity of standardized features for electric vehicles, such as transparent battery health (SOH) reporting and intuitive controls, ahead of upcoming European digital battery passport regulations.
