Overview

Renault’s 2026 programme continues to expand its low‑cost, low‑emission portfolio across Europe. Following the rollout of the Sandero and Stepway Hybrid 155 in markets like Spain, Germany, and Romania, Dacia is further expanding its electrified lineup. The Hybrid 155 system, which utilizes a 1.8-liter four-cylinder petrol engine paired with two electric motors and a 1.4 kWh battery, is being introduced to the Sandero Streetway and Jogger models. This technology features an electrified multi-mode automatic transmission, allowing for electric-only operation for up to 80% of urban driving. The Jogger variant offers a maximum torque of 205 Nm and a WLTP mixed cycle consumption of 4.5 l/100 km.

Dacia has also introduced a ‘Tribrid’ powertrain, combining gasoline, electricity, and autogas (LPG) in the Duster 4x4 and Bigster 4x4 SUV models. This system uses a 1.2-liter mild-hybrid three-cylinder engine to leverage LPG, which is approximately 40% cheaper than standard gasoline. While the technology costs roughly €5,000 more than the ‘Mild Hybrid 140’ version, Dacia estimates annual savings of approximately €750 for a Bigster driving 20,000 kilometers.

Regarding internal combustion updates, test drives of the 2026 Dacia Sandero (Phase 3) 100-PS version indicate improved performance over the 65-PS model, specifically noting that the turbocharged engine avoids the performance drops seen in lower-powered versions when air conditioning is active. The model also features a six-speed gearbox and revised reverse gear placement. Looking toward new model launches, Dacia will preview the Striker in Poland on September 11, ahead of its official debut at the Paris Motor Show in October.
