Dacia Bigster hybrid SUV priced from €24,000 offers budget-friendly midsize option

Dacia, the Romanian subsidiary of Renault, has launched the Bigster, a midsize SUV positioned as an affordable alternative to models such as the VW Tiguan. The vehicle is available in the German market starting at €23,990 (about €24,000).

The Bigster is offered as a full‑hybrid. It combines a 1.8‑litre four‑cylinder petrol engine delivering 80 kW (109 hp) with an electric motor of 36 kW (49 hp) and 205 Nm torque, for a combined output of 115 kW (155 hp). The hybrid system uses a 1.4 kWh battery recharged via regenerative braking rather than plug‑in charging.

Dimensions (4570 mm long, 1813 mm wide, 1712 mm high) are close to those of the Tiguan. The interior uses simple hard‑plastic and fabric materials, includes Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and features a functional but modest infotainment system. Test drivers noted a faint plastic smell in hot weather but praised the robust build quality and comfortable steering wheel.

The review was conducted over a week of everyday driving in Munich as part of a monthly “Asphalt‑Analyse” series that evaluates new cars for practicality and value.
