Dacia announces new low‑cost Spring EV and expands electric lineup

CEO Katrin Adt visited the Mioveni plant and the Titu Technical Centre, reaffirming Dacia’s commitment to Romania, saying “Romania is the cradle of Dacia” and expressing confidence in the local workforce. The company announced that the next‑generation Dacia Spring will be launched in September 2026, built in Europe, priced below €18,000 and equipped with only essential features – a simplified interior, a 27.5 kWh battery and an estimated 260 km WLTP range.

Renault Group’s first‑half 2026 results show 1.16 million vehicles sold worldwide, with over half of European sales now electrified. Dacia’s Sandero remains the best‑selling car in Europe, while the brand plans to release four fully electric models by 2030, including the new Spring, an electric Sandero, a compact “Hipster” model under €15 000 and a fourth undisclosed vehicle. Additional launches this year – a Sandero Hybrid, the new Spring EV and a Striker – are aimed at reviving sales in the Romanian market, supported by the national Rabla subsidy program.
