Dacia Sandero leads European car sales in July 2026

The European automotive market showed growth in July 2026, with total new vehicle registrations reaching 1,109,960 units, a 4.1% increase compared to July 2025. Year-to-date figures show a 5.7% rise, totaling over 8.3 million vehicles.

In terms of specific models, the Dacia Sandero reclaimed its position as the most popular car in Europe, with over 19,700 units sold in July. This follows a period of volatility where the Tesla Model Y had previously held the top spot.

Volkswagen remains the leading manufacturer in the region. The Volkswagen Golf secured second place with over 17,600 registrations, while the T-Roc followed in third. Despite these successes, Volkswagen saw a slight decline in overall monthly sales compared to the previous year. Toyota climbed to third place among brands with 72,850 registrations, trailing Skoda by a narrow margin of 1,557 units.
