Dacia launches low‑cost hybrid Sandero in Spain, keeping it the #1 seller

Dacia has introduced a conventional plug‑in hybrid version of its Sandero compact car in Spain at a base price of €19,890 for the Expression trim and €20,890 for the Journey trim. The 155 hp model combines a 1.8‑litre gasoline engine with two small electric motors powered by a 1.4 kWh lithium‑ion battery, delivering up to 80 % of urban driving in electric mode and a combined fuel consumption of 4.2 L/100 km. It is equipped with a four‑speed automatic gearbox for the combustion engine plus two electric gear ratios.

The new hybrid, built in Morocco, has reinforced the Sandero’s market dominance. In June 2026 the model sold 4,288 units, bringing its cumulative registrations for the year to 18,540, and it remains Spain’s best‑selling car, ahead of the Seat Ibiza, which recorded 3,404 units in the same month. The Sandero’s price advantage – starting around €14,490 for conventional versions and just under €20,000 for the hybrid – continues to undercut rivals in the B‑segment.

Analysts see the launch as a strategic move by the Renault Group to expand affordable hybrid offerings across Europe while preserving the Sandero’s reputation for value and practicality.
